Obstruction - a blockage of the small or large intestine that prevents the normal passage of intestinal contents.

Occult blood - blood in the stool that is not visible, but can be detected by simple laboratory tests.

Osmotic diarrhea - diarrhea that results from an impaired absorption of carbohydrates.

Ostomy - the surgical creation of an artificial opening for feces to be removed from the body, such as a colostomy.

Oxalate - a salt of oxalic acid, that, when it is absorbed by the colon and enters the bloodstream, may cause calcium oxalate crystals the lead to kidney stone formation.
